Seriously, does anyone think buying real estate - commercial/industrial especially in the Puget Sound area is a bad idea?  Please me know why.  I just don’t see it.  We are expected to welcome an additional 1.7 million people to this area in the next 30 years.  THE best article I have ever read about Seattle appears in September issue of Smithsonian Magazine.  Truly, you will understand the appeal of this corner of the world after reading it.

There is going to have to be some imaginative financing/seller financing/trades going on for awhile - but it really will be good to get back to old fashioned basics.  There are tremendous value now - instead of “pie in the sky” value - real honest to goodness value here in the Northwest.

This whole mess with the financial institutions vaporizing and the trickle-down affect it will have, reminds me of a scene from Dr. Zhivago when Geraldine Chaplin’s character thought of her life of affluence and then how a dozen families were living in their former home and said: “It is much more fair”.  Get ready for a lot of “fair”.

McCain’s First Wife - FYI

John McCain has been married twice. In 1965 McCain married the former swimsuit model Carol Shepp and adopted her two children. After Carol was disfigured in an automobile accident, John and Carol divorced in 1980. McCain blames the collapse of his first marriage on “my own selfishness and immaturity” and has called it “my greatest […]

DEJU VU? It’s the 80’s again.

Anyone that was in business in the 80’s through to 1995 remembers the Savings and Loan meltdown.  FSIC?  Remember when you THOUGHT that meant you were insured in your savings up to $100,000? only to find out you were insured UNTIL the FSIC ran out of money?  Of course that could never happen today.
Gas […]

FUN AND GAMES AT ROSARITA BEACH MEXICO SA

My most recent birthday was spent south of the border.  It was easy to get there, gas was $2 gallon, weather was great, accommodations were reasonable and fabulous, security was evident and we partied down.  This will be a tough birthday to beat next year!

My observations about the commercial/industrial real estate market have been greatly expanded since joining Colliers International.  With a world-wide reach, Colliers is in the top ten on the planet for Leasing, Buying, Selling, Managing and Managing investment real estate.  We had a visitor from the Shanghai China office sharing with us some of the […]

Countrywide down for the count and CitiBank to follow?

What a greedy mess.  San Diego real estate values have dropped 13% and predicted to go further down.  SAN DIEGO - who would have thought? It is hard for us in Seattle to realize the impact this has on other parts of the US.  I just talked to my daughter in Santa Monica and between the writer’s […]

Bastyr Concert, Waisseling and Tailgating in the Tower Club

My 95 years young Dad is still with me from Grays Harbor County.  My Dad was a Franciscan Monk that when he got to Seattle in the early 40’s found work at The Boeing Company.  At age 62, we convinced him to retire as the average death of a Boeing Retiree was 1.5 years after […]
