Articles and information on finding, investing in and managing commercial real estate.

Seriously, does anyone think buying real estate - commercial/industrial especially in the Puget Sound area is a bad idea?  Please me know why.  I just don’t see it.  We are expected to welcome an additional 1.7 million people to this area in the next 30 years.  THE best article I have ever read about Seattle appears in September issue of Smithsonian Magazine.  Truly, you will understand the appeal of this corner of the world after reading it.

There is going to have to be some imaginative financing/seller financing/trades going on for awhile - but it really will be good to get back to old fashioned basics.  There are tremendous value now - instead of “pie in the sky” value - real honest to goodness value here in the Northwest.

This whole mess with the financial institutions vaporizing and the trickle-down affect it will have, reminds me of a scene from Dr. Zhivago when Geraldine Chaplin’s character thought of her life of affluence and then how a dozen families were living in their former home and said: “It is much more fair”.  Get ready for a lot of “fair”.

DEJU VU? It’s the 80’s again.

Anyone that was in business in the 80’s through to 1995 remembers the Savings and Loan meltdown.  FSIC?  Remember when you THOUGHT that meant you were insured in your savings up to $100,000? only to find out you were insured UNTIL the FSIC ran out of money?  Of course that could never happen today.

FUN AND GAMES AT ROSARITA BEACH MEXICO SA

My most recent birthday was spent south of the border.  It was easy to get there, gas was $2 gallon, weather was great, accommodations were reasonable and fabulous, security was evident and we partied down.  This will be a tough birthday to beat next year!

Countrywide down for the count and CitiBank to follow?

What a greedy mess.  San Diego real estate values have dropped 13% and predicted to go further down.  SAN DIEGO - who would have thought? It is hard for us in Seattle to realize the impact this has on other parts of the US.  I just talked to my daughter in Santa Monica and between the writer’s […]

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY NEWS NAMES SEATTLE IN TOP 10

“Investors and Corporations seek new spaces despite volatile market”. Those were the headlines in the Nov. 16, 2007 article from Commercial Property News listing Seattle as second only to New York in the “flight to quality” as the reason investors are setting their sights on Seattle’s commercial and industrial properties.
Seattle’s metropolitan area only ranks […]

MAZATLAN - Nice on a winter’s day

My neighbors just returned from Mazatlan.  Deana is also a massage therapist - how fun is that for a neighbor??  Deana works through the large hotels in Seattle and has massaged many celebs and visiting politicians.  This was Deana’s first trip so I shared one of my favorite trips to Mazatlan during Carnivale last year.
